Year 6 Weekly Update – 11/06/21

Dear parents/carers,
We hope that you had a restful half term, the children have had an enjoyable first week back in their final term at St Catherine’s. The Year 6’s have enjoyed our inter-faith week where we have been learning about Judaism, Islam and Hinduism. They have all listened respectfully, asked insightful questions and studied a range of religious objects. The learning for next week is:
English/Science: Looking at the effects of smoking on our health, body and lungs. Designing a persuasive poster to inform somebody of the dangers and risks of smoking. (This is linked to our new topic Blood Heart).
Maths: Imperial measures, finding the area of shapes, area and perimeter, area of a triangle.
RE: To be aware of Jesus’ teaching and example of service and how we should be like him.
Guided Reading: Looking at vocabulary, predicting and inference skills linked to our new class text ‘Pig Heart Boy’ by Malorie Blackman
PE: CT: Gymnastics        Mr Reilly: Cricket
PSHE: Exploring the concept of diversity and how our differences make us special. Think about things that make us different but also the things we have in common (Linked to Pride Month).
Spellings: Re-cap Y5/6 Statutory spellings: accommodate, accompany, according, achieve, aggressive, amateur, ancient, apparent, appreciate, attached
