Dear parents/carers,
We hope that you all had a restful Easter break, we have enjoyed having the children back for the first week of the Summer term. The learning for next week is:
English: Debating the positives and negatives of children being evacuated during the war and considering how evacuees would have felt. Beginning our new class text Goodnight Mister Tom.
Maths: Ordering fractions, decimals and percentages and finding percentages of amounts.
RE: To know that the apostles were people with strengths and weaknesses just like us. Know how the apostles changed when they received the holy spirit and reflect on how we can be changed.
Geography: To identify different locations that were targeted during the Blitz and identifying geographical features that would have contributed to them being targeted.
Spellings: Homophones: draft, draught, dissent, descent, precede, proceed, wary, weary
On Monday 26th April, the Year 6 children will be taking part in a workshop about critical thinking. The focus of the workshop will be on fake news, propaganda and conspiracy and will encourage the children to think about noticing and explaining fact from fiction. We will also reiterate the seriousness of cyber bullying and the response they may get from the police.
Please can you also ensure that your child’s name is in their school uniform. Due to COVID we do not currently have a central lost property area and so it is beneficial if your child can identify their jumper promptly.
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 6 Team
