Year 4 Weekly Update – 23/04/21

Dear Parents,
It is Normans Day this Friday. Feel free to bring in a costume or prop related to our new 1066 topic but to come in wearing full school uniform as usual. We will be doing Norman themed activities including embroidery and eating a Norman feast etc. We have taken account of all allergies we have on file however, if you are uncertain or have any information to update the school with, please let the office know by 3pm Thursday. We are really looking forward to a fun day of learning!

Maths
In maths this week we have been looking at what fractions are. Towards the end of the week we will be looking more closely at tenths. Next week, we will move on to equivalent fractions, using bar models and number lines to support this initially before moving on to more abstract learning.
Literacy
This week we have been revisiting and adding to persuasive techniques and conjunctive adverbs for purposes of similarity, contrast, causation and sequence. Next week, we will write a persuasive letter in role of William, Duke of Normandy explaining why he should be King of England.
RE
This week we will be retelling the story of Jesus appearing to the disciples on their fishing trip. Next week, we will look at how Jesus made Peter the head of the church.
History
In history next week, we will be creating a timeline of the Battle of Hastings.
PSHE/RHE
Next week, we will be focusing on PSHE. Our topic this half term in econonic well being. We will be looking at where money comes from, spending and saving.
