Dear Parents and Carers,
Next term, our topic will be 1066 (the Norman invasion). Since we are still unsure whether trips will be available next term, to get us started, we have organised a 1066/ Normans day. On the day, the children can bring in a costume or any item on a medieval/ Battle of Hastings theme but they must still come in wearing their uniform. A £3 charge has been added to ParentPay to help purchase resources for the day. These will include: craft resources to recreate the Bayeaux Tapestry and food to recreate a medieval banquet.
Over Easter, if you wish to carry out some prelearning, we would love to make an in class display of art work on any research you’ve done on the topic of 1066 (similar to how we started Road Trip USA when we returned to school- see picture attached). Ideas could be artwork of Norman castles, knights and warriors, images from the Bayeaux Tapestry, famous Norman or gothic churches, coats of arms and heraldry or maps of locations of Norman castles or towns.
Really looking forward to launching an exciting new topic. Have a wonderful Easter break. See you all in two weeks.
