It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the holidays. They have been busy learning lots of new things this week and have enjoyed being with their friends.
Next week the children will be learning about the following:
English: Year 2 have begun their new topic ‘Land Ahoy’ and Year 2’s new text is ‘The Night Pirates’ written by Peter Harris. Year 2 will be focusing on how to write in the first person from the main character’s point of view.
Phonics: Throughout this term Year 2 will continue to refresh previous phases and continue to learn phase 6. Please continue to refresh these phases at home too.
Maths: Year 2 will continue to learn about length and height and will be measuring in centimeters and meters.
RE: Our new focus is Eastertide and Year 2 are learning about the time when Jesus told the disciples that he would go back to Heaven but promised that the Holy Spirit would come to the apostles.
RHE: Learning the importance of the word ‘sorry’ and how to recognise when they might need to say sorry to someone else.
Spelling Focus: The /r/ sound spelt ‘wr’ at the beginning of words, apart from ‘with’ this is a word that can often be misspelt in Year 2.
Maths home learning is on purple mash.
- If there are any more surviving bean plants please could they be returned to school so they can be planted in our small allotment patch next week.
- Home books and library books to be returned on Wednesday
We look forward to another wonderful term in Year 2, thank you again for your ongoing support.
