Year 6 Weekly Update – 11/12/20

Dear parents/carers,
This week we will have completed our second round of SATs practice tests and we will share the children’s scores with them by the end of next week. Please ensure that your child shares their results with you. Just a reminder that next Friday we will be finishing at 1.15, if your child is an independent traveller please make sure that they have either handed in a letter to us or that you have emailed the office to give permission for them to independently travel home on that day. Any prior independent traveller permission forms that you have handed in to the school will not be valid for this day because it is an early finish.
Last week, the children really enjoyed our exciting fossil workshop and they had lots of fun investigating, researching and sketching a range of fossils. Next Tuesday, the children will also be taking part in an enjoyable Christmas carol workshop where they will investigate the story, imagine and recreate the setting of Victorian London, and get inside the heads of Dickens’ famous characters. There will be no spellings next week, please use this time to revise the Y5/6 spelling list.
The learning for next week is:
English: Writing a letter in role linked to our class book Sky Hawk
Maths: Christmas themed Maths activities and investigations
RE: Reflecting on our RE learning for this half term considering why people admired Oscar Romero, what beliefs and values inspired Romero to be ready to give his life to help others
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 6 Team
