Year 6 Weekly Update – 20/11/20

Dear parents/carers,
We have had another fantastic week of learning in Year 6 and the children have really enjoyed getting involved with Friendship Week and the importance of building positive communication and friendship. We have considered what a good friend is and have thought carefully about what our role is in the school community. As a class, we have discussed and written our own positive affirmations and have displayed these around the classroom to be referred to daily.
The learning for next week is:
Geography (linked with English): Plotting Darwin’s route to the Galapagos islands.
English: Explanation text linked to Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Maths: Common factors, multiples and prime numbers to 100.
RE: Reflect on the cost of commitment and present an argument for a particular point of view.
TenTen: Human beings are different to other animals. Learning about the unique growth and development that girls will experience during puberty. Will learn about the need to respect our bodies as a gift from God that should be looked after well and treated appropriately. Learning the need for modesty and appropriate boundaries.
Art: Sketching shells, plants and flowers using a range of mediums (watercolours, pencils)
Next week, a child in 6S will be holding a fundraiser for Year 6 to raise money for Chipping Barnet Foodbank. They will be selling homemade Christmas decorations for £1 each. If you would like to support this wonderful cause then your child may bring in some money from Monday (they will have the chance to purchase some decorations at the start of lunch each day).
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 6 Team
