Year 6 Weekly Update – 13/11/20

Dear Parents/carers,
We have had another fantastic week of learning in Year 6 and the children have enjoyed learning more about Charles Darwin’s life and his adventures in the Galapagos Islands. The children have also had fun taking part in ‘Active Maths’ playing a range of active games related to our knowledge of fractions.
It was brilliant to speak with all of you during Friday’s parent consultations. We will be sending out another email containing a list of useful websites for Maths and English, along with additional resources that we use regularly in class so that you can continue to support your child at home.
The learning for next week is:
English: Creating a persuasive leaflet about visiting the Galapagos Islands.
Maths: To consolidate learning of long division. Identify common factors and common multiples.
Science: To identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment.
RE: To reflect on the cost of commitment and present an argument for a point of view.
Art: Sketching plants, flowers and trees with pencil and charcoal.
PSHE: Friendship Week- talking about the importance of friendship, how we should treat others and how we are all unique and special.
Geography: To research 3 animal species that are at risk of extinction and create an informative poster about the factors that are endangering. them and what can be done to protect them.
Spellings: Homophones: desert, dessert, stationary, stationery, compliment, complement, principle, principal, prophet, profit.
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 6 Team
