Dear Parents,
I’m sure you have heard by now that we started our new topic on Peasants, Pestilence and Princes yesterday. We enjoyed putting on a performance for the children and we think they had fun too!
Snacks: The children’s lunchtime slot has changed – the children sit down for their meals at 1.15 which is half an hour later than before half term. Please send your child in to school with a fruit or vegetable snack to keep them going up until lunchtime.
Uniform: Just a reminder that uniform should now be winter uniform – no shorts or summer dresses.
DT: At some point this term, the children will need to bring in some cardboard – we suggest an empty cereal box – in order to make a medieval book. We can provide a certain amount of material to cover the books, however if you happen to have some silky fabric at home (an old top would do) please keep it in mind for when we do the project. Some children may also wish to bring in some jewelled embellishments to decorate their books, if you happen to have some at home, however there is no expectation to bring in anything like this. We will let you know when we need the resources nearer the time, but wanted to give you some advance notice so that you can save a box or two as they are used up.
Here is an overview of next week’s learning:
In RE, we will be reflecting on Abraham and the covenant he made with God and what that means for us.
In Maths, we will be continuing our topic on statistics by exploring line graphs, two way tables and timetables.
In English, we will be continuing to write poem using metaphor.
In PSHE, we will be doing a lesson called ‘Peculiar Feelings’. Children will be taught to deepen their understanding of the range and intensity of their feelings; that ‘feelings’ are not good guides for action and that some behaviour is wrong, unacceptable, unhealthy or risky.
