Dear parents/carers,
We have had a wonderful first half term with all of your children. We hope the children have enjoyed all their learning. In our classrooms we have displayed all of their great work from this half term. We were particularly impressed with their watercolour interpretations of Martin Luther King!
This week in year 3 in our literacy/topic we will be looking at what a non-chronological report is and what the features of non-chronological reports are. The children will also be looking at what a pronoun is and how to use these.
In Maths the children will be using their knowledge of the patterns in the 5 times table to count in steps of 50. The children will also be introduced to adding numbers greater than 100. They will be applying their prior knowledge of adding and subtracting ones and tens to adding and subtracting multiples of 100, for example: 2 tens and 3 tens is equal to 5 tens, 2 hundreds and 3 hundreds is equal to 5 hundreds. To ensure the children can see the value of the digits, they will be encouraged to use concrete manipulatives and pictorial representations throughout.
In R.E we will be learning about some of the signs and symbols used in the Sacrament of Baptism and the children will be reflecting on why they are used. For home learning this week please continue to revise the 10,5,2 and 3 times tables. In spellings we have been looking at some general strategies that can be used to learn spellings and have been looking at some of the Year 3/4 Statutory spellings (tricky words). Please see the attachment for the spellings and some of the strategies we have used.

Please also make sure to listen to your child read and sign their reading record.
Thank you for your support. We hope you have a lovely half term!
