Dear Parents and Carers,
For spellings, children will all learn the same set of words. There will always be a list of 10 words, however, if you feel your child is finding it tricky to learn the entire list, encourage them to learn the first 6. In this case, they will also only be tested on the first 6 in class.
Spellings (all children): homophones and near homophones: encourage your child to think about the meaning of the words as they are learning them.
The times tables we will be testing next week will be: 8 times tables
We will then begin learning the 11 times tables.
In maths, we will continue our place value learning. We will be rounding to 1000, counting in 25s, learning about negative numbers on a number line and learning Roman numerals.
The children will be writing a letter to Emperor Claudius explaining why they should be chosen to be one of his valiant warriors.
We will continue with our work on the story of David in the Old Testament. We will also reflect on all the scripture from the Old Testament that we have studied this half term (Moses, Abraham, Joseph) and make links between these.
The children will be mapping their route accross Britain (looking for Roman towns), finding towns to conquer.
