Year 3 Weekly Update – 16/10/20

Dear parents/carers,
We hope you are all well. This week in year 3 in our literacy/topic we will be returning to our learning about predators by looking at crocodiles. The children will be reading several texts and using these to find out more information.
In Maths the children will be using objects to represent numbers to 1,000. When given two numbers represented by objects, the children will be encouraged to use comparative language and symbols to determine which is greatest/smallest. The children will then move onto comparing numbers presented as numerals rather than objects. They will be encouraged to choose an efficient method to compare the numbers. In R.E we will be learning what happens when we receive the Sacrament of Baptism and reflecting on the meaning of this Sacrament.

In RSHE we will be learning that in Baptism God makes us His adopted children and ‘receivers’ of His love and by regularly receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we grow in good deeds (human virtue).

For home learning this week please revise the 10,5,2 and 3 times tables. In spellings we will be learning about adding the prefixes ‘un’ and ‘dis’. Please help your child to learn the following words:

unhappy

unkind

dislike

unwell

disappear

unusual

unfair

disagree

displeased

Please also make sure to listen to your child read and sign their reading record.

Thank you for your support.
