Dear parents/carers,
This week in Year 3 we have learnt about some of the most deadly predators on the planet. We will later on this week be writing a recount to tell others about what we have learnt, making sure to use a variety of punctuation (? ! and .) in our recounts.
In Maths the children will primarily be using Base 10 to become familiar with any number up to 1,000. Using Base 10 will emphasise to the children that hundreds are bigger than tens and ones. It is important that the children see numbers with zeros in different columns, and show them with concrete and pictorial representations. The children will then move onto estimating, working out and writing numbers on a number line. The number lines will be shown with and without start and end numbers, and with numbers already placed on them. We will encourage the children to work with concrete resources as they develop their understanding of the number line.
In R.E we will be reflecting on our previous learning about being part of the family of the Church and will spend time answering the following questions:
What is the name of your parish priest?
What is the name of your parish?
Which diocese are you in?
What is the name of your Bishop?
What is the Pope’s name?
For home learning this week please revise your 10 and 5 times tables. For spellings this week, the children have been looking at adding the suffixes ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the end of verbs and nouns – when to use ‘s’ and what the special cases are when you use ‘es’. Please help them to learn the following words:
goes
does
boxes
beaches
tomatoes
potatoes
buses
wishes
reaches
Please also make sure to read with your child and sign their reading record.
Thank you for your support.
