In phonics we have been focusing on voice sounds. We have experimented with different ways of using our voices, exploring the different speech sounds that we can make, and tuning into different voices. We played a game called ‘Apple Pie’ where we had wear a blindfold and guess who said apple pie. We have also been trying to use different sounds and expressive voices in our small world play.
In maths we have continued to consolidate our number recognition 1-5. We have continued to hunt for numbers in the environment, and we have been adding numbers onto our pictures and paintings. We began to talk about number bonds to five, and we are beginning to use the language of addition and subtraction.
We have continued to learn about the miracles of Jesus in RE, and this week we acted out the Wedding at Cana where Jesus turned the water into wine, and talked about Jesus calming the storm. We know that Jesus performed miracles to show people that he was so special. We have been reflecting on how we can show our love for Jesus.
For Climate Action Week, we have been learning about the world getting warmer. Some of us knew a little bit about the ice melting in the sea, which is making the sea warmer. We had a circle time about how we can use less energy to slow down the world getting warmer. We are going to try to recycle as much as possible at Nursery and turn the lights off when we don’t need them! We read The Snail and The Whale, and we think that we should look after all the sea creatures because it won’t be nice for them if their homes were too hot!
