Dear Parents,
Our week started with an excellent Opera workshop in the hall. We particularly enjoyed seeing Mr Bell dressed as an evil villain in cape and purple wig!
In Maths, we have been adding fractions as well as comparing fractions with different denominators.
In English, we have been learning about the play ‘The Tempest’ by Shakespeare. Next week we will be attempting to write our own soliloquies from Alchemy Island.
In RE, the children learnt about the Beatitudes and about Sister Josephine Bakhita, who lived out the Beatitude ‘Blessed are the merciful’.
In PSHE, the children revisited the story of Zacchaeus and how he made himself visible to God. We reflected on what that means for us and how we can reach out to God too.
On Wednesday, the year 5 children visited the children in Reception to read to them. This afternoon we will be visiting them again and playing some number games with them for our number day activities.
Remember that next week, on Tuesday, is our trip to the Science Museum. Children will need to wear full school uniform and bring lunch in a labelled bag.
The spellings for this week have come from the year 5 and 6 Statutory Spellings list. They are:
- curiosity
- definite
- desperate
- determined
- develop
- dictionary
- disastrous
- embarrass
As always, please also read with your child at least 3 times weekly and play times tables games regularly.
Enjoy your weekends,
The year 5 team
