This week in Year 3 the children have been learning about the Ancient Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus. They have also been researching what everyday life was like in Ancient Greece. Later on this week, they will be writing a diary entry pretending they are Daedalus and writing about his everyday life. In addition, they have been learning how to use adverbs in their writing. In Maths the children have been learning how to divide a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number practically, involving exchanging and how to represent this in a diagram. In R.E the children have been learning about the story of Zacchaeus. They have also attended a workshop where they learnt about Judaism and many of the artefacts you might find in a Jewish home.
In spellings we have been looking at words with ‘ly’ endings and the children have been using word pyramids to help them learn these. For home learning, please help them to learn the following words: occasion, occasionally, accident, accidentally, probably, probable. Please also help them to learn their 8 times table. They should be able to instantly recall questions from the 8 times table eg 7 X 8, not just count in 8s in order. Please also don’t forget to listen to your child read (everyday if possible) and sign their reading record.
Thank you for your support.
