Year 2 Weekly Update

Maths: The children were learning to add three 1-digit numbers, within this step, the children needed to use their knowledge of commutativity to find the most efficient and quick way to add the three one digit numbers. They looked for number bonds to 10 to help them add more efficiently.

Towards the end of the week, the children build on their earlier work of number bonds to 100 with tens and number bonds to 10 and 20. They used their new knowledge of exchange to find number bonds to 100 with tens and ones.

RE: We have been learning to reflect on God’s choice of Mary and Joseph and to remember that Jesus is God’s gift to the world. In class, we planned questions to ask Mary and Joseph about their reaction to the news that Angel Gabriel had brought. We then took turns to ask these questions to our fellow classmates, who answered as Mary and Joseph in the first person.

Literacy: This week the children performed in the KS1 Nativity. We are immensely proud of them for learning their lines, speaking clearly and remembering all of the dance moves. In Literacy we have written about this experience using full stops, capital letters and adjectives.
