Year 3 Weekly Update

This week in Year 3 we are going to be beginning to plan and write our own adventure stories. In geography we will be carrying out fieldwork to see what human and physical features we can find. In Maths we are looking at multiplication and division and will be using the 3,4 and 8 times tables to help us. In R.E we will be learning about the incarnation and in science we will be looking at food chains.  We would be very grateful for any books on the stone age which you could send in to help us with our learning about this topic.

In spellings the children have been looking at what happens when you add the suffixes ‘er’ and ‘est’ and adding ‘ness’ to adjectives to create nouns. For home learning please help your child to learn the following words:

Happy, happier, happiest, happiness, sillier, silliest, silliness, funnier, funniest.

Please also help your child to learn the 4 times table and make sure to read with your child and sign their reading record.

As I’m sure you are aware, our Year 3/4 nativity concert will be coming up soon. For this, we would like the Year 3 children to wear black clothes – preferably black leggings and a T-shirt for the girls and black joggers and T-shirt for the boys. We would like 3W to wear golden tinsel around their wrists and head and 3T to wear silver tinsel around their wrists and head. We would be very grateful if you could provide the outfit for your child for this concert, including the tinsel. Please could you send this in in a labelled plastic bag by 28th November, so that it can be in school in time for the dress rehearsal.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support!
