Maths: Before crossing the 10 with addition and subtraction, the children needed to have a strong understanding of place value. The idea that ten ones are the same as one ten was essential here. The children spent time partitioning 2 digit numbers in order to add them and lined them up in columns to formally demonstrate their working out. They then did the same with subtraction and were able to use number lines efficiently to support their understanding.
RE: In our new RE topic, we have been learning about and reflecting on mysteries. This week, we looked at the three persons in one God and learned that we can think about him in different ways. The children were encouraged to ask questions and were reminded that the Trinity is a mystery -0 we will not be able to understand but we can ponder on it.
