St Catherine’s Boys Vs Christ Church

GROUP CHAMPIONS!

On Monday afternoon our boy’s football team faced Christ Church in this top of the table clash. Both teams were equal on points after the same amount of games played, giving this fixture a special cup final feel to it. Both teams would have antici-pated a close affair and this is exactly how the game turned out to be. After a strong start from our boys Christ Church came strong towards the end of the first half and we had Oran to thank for keeping them at bay by half time. At half time the boys regrouped and collected their thoughts on what had been an end to end first half. Mr Kalamaras’ half time team talk in-spired our boys to make a strong start to the second half and with more luck we could have found ourselves in front. How-ever, similar to the first half Christ Church grew back into the game with a few dangerous attack of their own. From the side-line’s we could see that Christ Church were presenting us with our biggest challenge to date due to their organisation and commitment to the cause. Therefore as the match drew towards the final stages we were delighted to finally see all the boys hard work throughout the season pay off with a wonderful goal securing us a vital 1-0 win. Luca’s defence splitting pass set Pablo free who calmly slotted the ball home with an excellent finish with the stakes never being higher. The last few minutes seemed to last forever but the victory was secured and the boys could rejoice in this excellent achievement.

Now that we have won our group the boys will have to play Whitting’s Hill – the winners of their group- after the Easter holi-days to be crowned Barnet champions. This leads to an exciting start to the summer term for the boys who are already are in the Central Cup Final on Monday 23rd April. Further details will be announced regarding the Whitting’s Hill fixture set to take part in the early stages of the summer term. Support for both these fixtures is more than welcome so come down and cheer the boys on if you can, both fixtures will be held at Livingstone primary school.

I am sure you will join Mr Kalamaras, Mr Pagnotta & I, in wishing the boys every success in these big games coming up after the Easter break! Well done boys!!
